Farm Classes for Kids at Frenchie Farm

farm classes for kids

Interested in signing your child up for farm classes for kids, but need a little bit more information first? You’re in the right place.

About the teacher

Hi! I’m Colleen, and I’m so happy that you’re here. I’m a previous child/adolescent therapist turned regenerative farmer and modern homesteading blogger. We currently raise Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, chickens, ducks, and Great Pyrenees on our small organic family farm. I’m the teacher behind farm classes for kids.

I left the therapy world behind to focus on raising our two little ones while continuing to expand our modern homestead. With a love for sustainable living, regenerative farming, and working with children, the dream of offering Farm Classes for kids became a reality. I currently teach three sections of classes based on age: Mini’s (2-4 year olds – one parent/guardian is required), Little’s (5-7 year olds), and Big Kids (8-11ish year olds.) I also offer private classes for group and/or family classes with a minimum of 6 people enrolled.

About Classes

Class curriculum is developmentally appropriate while also introducing kids to regenerative farming. Our goal is to make kids EXCITED about learning where the food comes from! During farm classes, kids are exposed to gardening, harvesting vegetables, collecting farm-fresh eggs from the coop, and feeding animals. Picking up chickens is encouraged 😉

Why Frenchie Farm?

I frequently get asked the question, “Why is your farm named Frenchie Farm?” Well, Frenchie Farm began well before my husband and I got married when we decided to get our two french bulldogs, Henry and Marvin. Common with the breed, both of our pups struggled with extreme allergies, frequent infections, and over antibiotic usage.

After Henry was diagnosed with a Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Pseudintermedius (MRSP) that would not clear and the aggressive antibiotic treatment that almost killed him, we took the health of our dogs into our hands with holistic measures. Our sweet pup is now happy and healthy, and neither of our dogs have been prescribed antibiotics in years.

Hence, Frenchie Farm was born! Ironically, Henry is allergic to grass and will break out in hives all over his belly if he rolls around too much, so you won’t see our frenchies on the farm very often. Don’t worry, they’re happily snoozing on the couch.
