Hey friends, happy Tuesday! How’s your week going so far? If you follow me on Instagram, then you might have seen that we went on our first getaway as a family of four (plus a few friends!) over the weekend. Check out a full recap of our weekend getaway to the lake.
Weekend Getaway to the Lake
Seeing as we had a pretty low key weekend celebrating Ben’s birthday over Labor Day, we decided to take a weekend getaway to the lake. Other than spending time outside, boating, and relaxing, we didn’t have a whole lot on the agenda. I opted to stay inside the cabin with Beckham Saturday afternoon while Ben, Finley, and our friends spent some time on the boat. Cuddling with this guy without any major distractions was pretty amazing.
Boat Rides, Fishing, & Babies
Finley had SO much fun on the boat. The second she woke up every morning, she would immediately ask if she could go on a boat ride. She loved looking for fishes, and excitedly told everyone that “the fishes are taking nappies” when couldn’t find a fish in the lake. This girl melts my heart.
Ben really wanted to go fishing with Finley, so he picked up a Moana fishing pole before we left. She’s still a bit too young to fish, but how sweet is this?
Hank & Marv
It wouldn’t be a family vacation without Henry and Marvin. In case you couldn’t tell by their epic boat picture below, these frenchies absolutely love spending time at the lake. They aren’t able to run around the farm too much because of their allergies, but boat rides are always a win.
Speaking of allergies, Marvin gave us a bit of a scare over the weekend. Both of our pups sleep with us overnight, so I immediately turned on the light when I noticed Marvin making a lot of noise at the foot of the bed. I thought he was about to vomit (which happens more often that I would like admit), but then I realized that his face and facial folds were super red and swollen. Once I got a better look at this body, my heart immediately sank. Poor Marvin had huge welts everywhere.
I started researching emergency hospitals in the area, but we seeing as it was already 4 or 5am, we decided to hold off on bringing him to the vet until the morning. Luckily, we had some allergy medicine on hand and immediately gave him a dose. We slept with the lights on so I could keep an eye on him, and his hives significantly decreased in size by the morning. So glad he’s okay, but so weird!
Adios Lake, Hello Farm!
It was so nice to get away for a few days. Ben has been working longer hours lately, so he needed time to unplug and relax. We’re definitely lucky that Ben’s dad was willing and able to take care of our farm animals while we were gone.
Plus, seeing these two little girls playing together was absolutely adorable. It makes me so happy that our friends are also having kids right now. How fun will it be to see these two girls growing up together?!
Getaways are always fun, but I really missed our little farm and animals while we were gone. Reunited and it feels SO good!
